Swanky Blog - My two cents...

Hi everyone!  So I thought I'd better put something on here about myself.  I'm a god-fearing, husband-loving, child rearing, photographing, vintage lover!  Yup that about sums it up:)

Ok, here's the skinny...

I have a super hot, heroic, superman-esk, amazing daddy to our little girl, for a husband - and dear LORD thank you for sending him into my life!  I don't know who else would put up with all my crap (and ideas)!  Did I mention...he is super good looking?  And this Hot hunk of a man is my friggin' ROCK!  Love you with all my heart and soul!

Then I have this amazing little being, my 2 1/2 year old, thinkin' about running for president, sassiest (no idea where that comes from) sass-a-frass I ever met, smart little stinker, with a little bit of attitude and swagger, daughter named Jerzi Jo.  And let me tell you, you don't know your heart can get that big until you have a little being.  Love you sugarbean!

We also have two very smelly, rambunctious, tracking in the mud, fur babies; Bean & Gully.  And they help in aiding to the chaos of our family, that I've come to love.

So, how in the world...

Well, I'm a full time Photographer.  I absolutely love what I do.  Photography is my Passion!  So years back when I started shopping for props for the studio, I found my love of Vintage.  Like Vintage EVERYTHING!  AHHHH!  And of course with years of nurturing, that love has only grown.  I was finding I was going to a bunch of different shows to find unique items for my studio, and my home.  And for about the last 3-4 years I've been thinking, why don't we have this in our area?  So, trying to convince my hubby that this was a good idea, well, it did take lots of convincing.  BUT...he believes in me.  And he knows when I have passion for something I'll put my whole heart and soul into it to make sure it's successful.

So, with that, Swanky Chic Junk Boutique was born!  I'm so excited, and of course there are a million things running through this brain of mine.  But for now, please help us by spreading the word, sharing our page and event, and telling your friends about us!  I certainly hope to see you all at the show!

Until later Swanky Peeps! Kj

Whoa!  It's been a while huh? :)  Sorry about that, I am going to dedicate myself to getting on here more often! PROMISE!

Ok let's talk your DIY 4th of July Decor!  Nothing feels better than accomplishing something yourself, and for way, way less than you could buy it in store.  I mean seriously it's the best!  BUT, truth be told I am a really bad DIY'er.  I always have the best of intentions.  However throughout my pinterest DIY journey I have learned two things.

#1 you have to have PATIENCE!  And if you know me at all, you know I possess very little of this skill.  I want things done, and I want them done now.  So if it's something that has to sit overnight, seriously I'm out.  Aint nobody got time for that! :) I need instant gratification.  So, for me, it has to be a project that I can accomplish in less than two hours, start to finish.

#2 you have to have the right TOOLS for the job.  Around my house, I'm usually searching for a hammer, so no, I rarely have the right tools for the job.  I always think I should ask for a good set of tools for Christmas.  Then I think, 'am I really going to use them?' and poof there goes that idea.

So, in the meantime I just enjoy everyone else's creative greatness and wish I could be like them.  When I find something I know is in my wheelhouse, I may go for it.  I'll let you know if that ever happens! Click the link to enjoy my fav 4th of July DIY Decor board!

Have a very Happy 4th of July everyone!

As I sit on the couch watching the snow come down.  I'm filled with mixed emotions.  2020 was rough.  You agree?  Having to cancel the Swanky Chic Junk Boutique, not once, but twice, was heartwrenching.  I know so many of our amazing vendors rely on our show.  Who would have thought when all of this started we would still be here, on December 29th, wow.

BUT...today I'm filled with hope.  I FINALLY feel like there's a light at the end of the tunnel.  With the vaccine coming out, I feel some weight lifted off my shoulders, as I'm sure many of you do as well.  As a show promoter, it was a very hard decision to cancel our two shows in 2020.  Ultimately it always came down to, if someone were to get sick from my show and it be fatal, I could never live with that.  And while I don't think we will be completely out of the woods come March, I do feel like many many people will have had the vaccine by then.  Which makes me feel so much better about moving forward with the show.

So...the preparations are under way!  We are full speed ahead with March 19-20, 2021 show!  And I couldn't be more excited!

Thank you for all of your support and I can't wait to see you all in March!

Sincerely,

The Swanky Lady

Well we're all in the same boat.  Right?  Well, no that's not actually true.  I saw a meme recently that said we may all be in the same rough waters but swimming with different boats.  And THIS, THIS made sense to me.  I think about some of our vendors, this is their ENTIRE income.  They don't have employees, just themselves.  It makes my heart hurt that for about 6 full months they have basically come to a halt.  Now sure, they can try to sell online and of course we try to support.  However some items just can't be shipped.  So just know, we are all certainly TRYING to swim, with the boat we've been given.  Our hearts go out to all of our amazing vendors, we're sending prayers your way.

Having said that, it's with great sadness we will be cancelling our June 5th -6th (originally March) show.  We have to think about our vendors, and our entire community and everyone who comes and enjoys this show with us.  And it's our social duty to keep everyone safe.  Trust me, this decision wasn't made lightly, and there are many things that are still VERY uncertain about our future shows.  HOWEVER...what we do know is this...

1.  When this is over we are CELEBRATING WITH BLOODY MARY's!!!!!

2.  I'm pretty sure the football on the big screens will be a welcomed sight:)

3.  Those amazing musicians on our stage will be so happy to fill your ears with awesome music!

4.  The food from our awesome Food Trucks will be EXTRA tasty!

5.  The vendors will be sooo happy to finally be 'showing' all their goods!

6.  We all will be SOOOOO happy to see you, our patrons.  The ones we put this show on for!

SO KNOW THIS... When this is over the Swanky Chic Junk Boutique will be READY FOR YOU!  So mark October 16th and 17th on your calendar, because we're going to PARTY!

So I can't even believe it's June, well almost July!  It always seems like after the 4th of July summer is over and fall is here.  And with that...so is the second Swanky Chic Junk Boutique!

We are so busy contacting vendors right now that I can't even keep things straight!  WOW!  We're gearing up our advertising, getting a few new tshirt designs in the works, and as promised, making sure we have that bloody mary bar ready to go!  We are totally committed to making sure our vendors and patrons are all uber happy with our show.  Please let me know if you have suggestions!  In the future I'd love to offer an outdoor space, after filling up indoor of course, that included a farmers market!  I think Sioux City does a wonderful job with their farmers market and since it would either be the beginning or end of the season we would love to get all of them to join us.

Vendors, get that vendor form in TODAY!  If you haven't submitted it here's the link:  www.swankychicjunkboutique.com/form/vendor-form

See you all real soon!  -The Swanky Lady

Holy cow! It's February 23rd and I'm sitting on my lovely couch watching "Wreck It Ralph" with my daughter, and it dawns on me...WE'RE EXACTLY ONE MONTH AWAY FROM OUR FIRST SHOW!

I am just so excited!  I can feel it in the air, the anticipation, the excitement, the JUNK!  Oh, for the love of Junk, what could be better?  Coffee?  Did I hear you say Coffee?  So me myself, not really big on the coffeemochalatte-ado thing.  BUT...I know there are a lot of you who are:)  So Heartland Coffee & Nosh will be there to give you that little bit of Jolt when you get tired from shopping.  And next week we will be putting the final touches on some pretty Swanky Tshirts!

And hey keep a look out for this awesome sign-age!  This beaut will be displayed over the Gordon Drive Bridge any day now!

We still have room for vendors so click this link to get signed up!  https://kwingert.zibster.com/form/vendor-application

And keep your eyes out...we might just have a deal coming your way!
